Designs by e.g. to Complement Your Everyday Look (And Pair With JLee Silver Basics!)

Chicago-based new jewelry designer, Erin Gordon, has just begun her jewelry-making empire.  Her style is elegant, cool and edgy.  She has an eye for what is "in" right now, and what is going to be cool in the coming months.  Her style began with chunky beaded necklaces adorned with brooches, and she has moved toward rocker-chic chain necklaces.  The heavy metal vibe lasted for all of last season, and now Erin has decided to begin making multi-beaded bracelets.  Anyone can wear the bracelets; from the urban fashionista to the thirteen year old trying to find her sense of style, these bracelets are for every modern woman.  The beaded bracelets come in various colors, have charms hanging from them and are designed to decorate your wrist beautifully.  Designs by e.g. is sold in select boutiques across the country.  below are some of her rocker charm bracelets and necklaces.

Transition Outfits

The winter months are here to stay, and even though it IS staying lighter just a little bit more everyday, it is still the dead of winter.  Next month is probably the worst of the winter months, so we only have to keep layering and bundling for another month (let's hope!) or so. Winter sales are in full effect right now; designers, departments stores and boutiques are eager to clear out their fall and winter inventory to make room for spring and summer 2010 arrivals.  I am extremely eager to break out my spring/summer purchases, but it's not exactly the right time.  A good way to wear your spring and summer clothes are to "winterize" them by pairing skirts and dresses with textured tights and boots, and cute summery tops with a boyfriend blazer or leather jacket.  Easy as pie!  You can make your drab day a little cheerier with the help of a colorful top or skirt.

Helpful tips and solutions from www.fashionheist.com:
The Chelsea Cowlneck dress can be worn for the winter weather with the Co Op Tunic (Under $100 item!), tights and boots or booties

The dress can be transitioned to summer with pumps for an easy, breezy office look!

SAG Awards Fashion

Time for a SAG award fashion recap! The stars came out and showed a different side of their fashion personalities than last week's Golden Globes. There were dazzling white sheaths and colorful colored dresses (my personal favorite), that graced the red carpet. Here are a few of the highlights:

Lea Michele in a green Malandrino. Stunning color in contrast to her skin tone, and the plunging neckline with ruffles complements her body.

Kate Hudson in Pucci. Goregous body skimming fabric and a a revealing back made this dress white hot.

Anna Kendrick in Alberta Ferretti. Loved this color and the layered bottom of the dress, it was sweet and sexy at the same time for the 'Up in the Air' actress.

Kyra Sedgwick in Vera Wang. On the red carpet, she told Giuliana that this dress was very calming, and by the looks of hot, she remained calm all evening next to her hubby, Kevin Bacon.

Photo Shoot

On Friday, we had our Spring 2010 photoshoot along with a Fall preview shoot. The overall look for Fall 2010 is more mature and elegant, while Spring is boho-beachy and relaxed. Both lines work well together, and form a cohesive 2010 line. We could not be happier with the way the shoot went, and the way the models worked the clothes to make everything pop. Stay tuned for more updates about JLee Fall 2010!

Concert Style

Rock, folk, country, hip hop, r&b, what do us fashionistas wear to a concert? Last night I attended a small concert at a bar in Lincoln Park. I had never been to the bar, and was unsure what the crowd would be like and what was atmosphere would entail. I was apprehensive about wearing new gray suede booties that would have been amazing, but I couldn't be sure if the crowd would get rowdie. I assumed there would be drink spillage, so risking my new booties would have been a major bummer. I wanted to look stylish with an edge, but not like I tried too hard to be "rocker". I went for a distressed white v-neck t-shirt, a green leather jacket and leather-like leggings with over the knee flat faux-leather boots. I added a belt bag so I could have my arms free so I could rock out to the band's slammin' tunes. Although some concerts require a different type of dress-code and some can even require dressing up to suit the genre of music, I found this outfit to be a perfect rocker-chic edge for the occasion.

Freezing Rain...Not Cool for the Style Maven

What is this with Chicago "freezing rain" weather? Don't get me wrong, I am extremely happy it is not longer a snowstorm. In fact, the snow has been melting, which is a big change for January temps. But really, let's get real, what do we women wear in this chilly and rainy weather? We are all getting sick of the glove and hat look, but the hot weather is months away. Slip on those adorable rain boots (Hunter wellies :) that you know you spent too much on, and pair them with a cute outfit. Make a not-so-hot weather day look hot! So you've got your boots on, my suggestion is to pair them with a pair of textured tights, a floral skirt and a boyfriend sweater. Perfect for work or the weekend days with the girls, yet fashionable enough to head into a store for some shopping.

Style idea: Take JLee Silver's Lincoln Park Mini Skirt in Red, and dress it down for daytime (distressed t-shirt and a cardi with flat boots)

Winter Wedding Attire

Last weekend I attended a wedding in the Windy City. Most would think that even though we are getting dressed up for an elegant occasion, we still need to obey the laws of nature...come on people, it's cold outside! I approached the evening with that in mind, that it was, after all, winter. Other guests at the wedding did not exactly feel the same way that I did. I saw girls showing up in hot pink party dresses with open-toe shoes. Don't get me wrong, I love dressing up just as much as the next girl, but it was twenty degrees! I wore a stylish black dress with a full tulle skirt, but paired my frock with tights and closed-toe shoes. I deem my outfit winter-appropriate. So girls, when getting dressed for a winter wedding, keep in mind that it is, in fact, still below freezing, and just because you need to dress for the season doesn't mean you need to shun style.

JLee Silver Blogs!

So happy to be blogging for the first time!

Who better to create a line for the modern woman than two groundbreaking career women? Jenna Lee Fowler and Melanie Manego had the idea for JLee Silver while representing other designer collections through their showroom, Fashion Heist. They started to notice the lack of affordable clothing lines in the market that possessed quality and style. Few designers were catering to the fashion forward working girl who didn’t want to spend her whole paycheck to look good.
In 2008, Jenna and Melanie set out to create chic and skillfully tailored fashion separates that would fill this void. With their strength in sales, Jenna and Melanie realized they couldn’t produce the clothing line on their own. They sought out their dream team; combining the best in each area, pattern makers, seamstresses, and manufacturers to create the JLee Silver collection. In January 2009, Jenna traveled to Poland, where she sourced fabrics and oversaw production.
Aptly titled, their first collection, “the complete wardrobe,” was comprised of 40 pieces including jackets, pants, skirts, dresses, tops, and even jewelry. Buyers and consumers alike were impressed with the versatility of the collection, as the pieces can be mixed and matched to meet the changing wardrobe needs of any woman. Luxe fabrics and quality craftsmanship give this collection its expensive feel, but its attainable price points render these feelings of grandeur an illusion.
Since producing their first collection, they set their sights on teaming with up and coming designers in other areas to expand their product-mix to include handbags and shoes. Jenna and Melanie’s showroom space includes a design studio and retail space, ensuring they have complete control over the execution of their vision— making high fashion accessible without sacrificing quality or fit.
Jenna and Melanie were able to execute their vision so seamlessly because, in a sense, they are the JLee Silver girl-- the girl who knows what she wants and won't settle.
